we want -you- to move for museums
We’re joining two amazing museums and learning centers in Tompkins County, The Museum of The Earth and Sciencenter, to bring you “Move for Museums” - a visibility and fundraising event that will get you outside, exercising, and exploring the county!
Interested? All of the information you need is on the website, but here is a preview of how it works:
Sign Up - this is the most important part! When you register, you’ll pick a museum to represent, method of movement (walk, run, or bike), and a target distance. Your target distance can represent a special effort, or your weekly walk in the neighborhood. You also select a target fundraising goal. For first-time fundraisers, we recommend $250. Sound daunting? Here’s the good news: everyone knows someone who loves museums. That takes us to the next step…
Get your network in on the fun - Use our ready-made kit or your own words and images to invite friends, family, neighbors, or coworkers to support your museum. They can sign-up to move themselves, pledge a per-mile amount (a dollar a mile, five dollars a mile, whatever feels right), or make a flat donation to support your effort.
Move during the June 27 weekend - Walk, run, or bike anywhere, any distance. Log your miles on your fundraiser page as you go. Embrace your freedom to move alongside the freedom to promote centers of preservation, education, and science.
Every dollar goes to your team's museum. And of course, bragging rights go to each museum!
