After the Exhibit Hall doors close for a final time on December 28, 2024, we’ll get to work clearing, cleaning, and installing. It’s a giant project — the Passage through Time will turn into an interactive exploration of Tompkins County Railways, the central hall will shift with an entire display tower being removed to make space for our Tommy Plane’s new (surprise) friend, and all kinds of wheeled objects will make their way out of the collections stored in Town Hall.
If you want to know what it takes to make the magic happen during this transition, we have an unusual opportunity for you. This year, The History Center’s GivingTuesday campaign is centered on inspiring Tompkins County to support preservation and education year-round. Individuals who make a reoccurring donation of any amount during December will be invited to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour to take place during the last week of January, before the Exhibit Hall is opened to the public.
