We're committed to collecting, preserving, and interpreting the history of Tompkins County which is only possible because of the generosity of folks in our community. At the core of our work is the over 500,000+ pieces of history under our protection - our repositories hold diaries, newspapers, physical objects, digitally-born histories, and a host of other types of materials that capture what it means to live in Tompkins County.

Did you know that individual support makes up almost 50% of our funding? In short, the pieces of our history wouldn't exist without people like you. If you care about Tompkins County history, make a gift that ensures it is saved for future generations.

Why Your Support Maters

1. Preserving Your History - Your support allows us to safeguard the artifacts, documents, and stories that make up the unique tapestry of Tompkins County's past.

2. A Legacy for Future Generations -  We are lucky today with all the pieces of history that our predecessors have left us. We have that same obligation for everyone to come after us, whether its one or seven generations down the line. Your gift is an important part of our ability to preserve the existing historical legacy and expand it to include your story.

3. Educational Initiatives - All of us can learn from the past. Whatever challenge or passion you may have, it's not unique to our time and place. We work with local schools, adult learning organizations, and a variety of other community groups to integrate local history resources. Your support makes all of our educational resources accessible to the broader Tompkins County community.

4. Community Engagement - History is not just in the past; it's a living, evolving story. We organize community events, lectures, and collaborations that foster a sense of belonging and pride in our shared history, while also critically exploring why our world looks the way that it does. Your support helps us strengthen the bonds that tie our community together.

Regardless of what piece of Tompkins County history your love, we're here to help explore it with you. Our family of people that care about Tompkins County grows every year, and we want to invite you to be part of that family this year and beyond.
