Description

Living in Tompkins: A Community Writing Project Published by the Tompkins County Historical Commission in 2020 Meet your neighbors. Dip into Living in Tompkins and see what they have to say about life, love, leaving and returning, joys and sorrows of living in Tompkins County. Find your neighbors living in a cold-water flat, standing in the fish line or walking through the aisles at the book sale; greet them as they move to Danby, live amid a garden in the West End, or find comfort in the beauty and birds at Greensprings Natural Cemetery in Newfield. The county Legislature created the Tompkins County Historical Commission in 2018 to promote researching the past and creating ways of making history visible to residents. Publishing well-researched pamphlets was the first goal of the commission but other means will also be used.
