Ithaca Drag Story Hour - A Christmas Reading of 'The Gingham Dog & the Calico Cat'

  • Please include child's first name and age for registration.

    Youth Programs are intended for children ages 3-12. Space in each program is limited and preference will be given to youth participants. Due to event capacity guidelines please have no more than one adult attend per child, and if possible one adult may register and supervise multiple children.

    All registrants will be contacted two days before the program, if you are unable to attend please contact community@thehistorycenter.net so your space may be offered to those on the waitlist.


Ithaca Drag Story Hour - Christmas Reading of 'The Gingham Dog & the Calico Cat'

PRESENTERS: Tilia Cordata & Coraline from Ithaca Drag Story Hour

Kids & families are invited to join Tilia & Coraline from Ithaca Drag Story Hour on Christmas Eve for a special performance of "The Gingham Dog & the Calico Cat", a timeless tale of two toys misadventures of Christmas Eve. 

The book by Brigid Clark & Chris Noel was inspired by Eugene Fields famous 1895 poem featuring a toy cat made of calico cloth. The Ithaca Kitty, designed on plain calico by two Ithaca women, first captured the hearts of millions of families around the world when it was released for he holiday season in 1892. 

The program will also be live-streamed through The History Center's Facebook page (facebook.com/tompkinshistory), and YouTube channel where it can be viewed by anyone from home. No registration necessary.

Donations to this program will support future youth programs at The History Center in Tompkins County. 

This event is brought to you by The History Center in Tompkins County through grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the New York State Council of the Arts. 

This FREE program is intended for kids ages of all ages and abilities. This event may include loud sounds, any participants with sensory sensitivities are encouraged to participate from home so they can adjust volume levels as needed.
