Join The History Center's Traverse Tompkins Challenge on September 23rd - 27th.
Executive Director, Benjamin Sandberg is riding his bike for as many miles as possible in 24 hours. Throughout the challenge, he is exploring fires of Tompkins County and their unknown impact on our community today.
Walk, bike, or roll your way to your own 24-hour challenge, or leisurely explore Tompkins County through our Finding Fires tours on PocketSights.
WHEN: September 23rd - 27th 2021
If you are taking part in the 24-hour challenge, pick any 24-hour period during the event window. You can plan your exploration around rain, wind, and any other environmental obstacle. Be sure to let us know when you're riding by tagging us @TompkinsHistory on any platform - we'd love to share with our local history community!

How do I participate?
There are two easy ways to participate! The easiest way is to explore fires of Tompkins County. There's no cost to use a tour, but we hope to see people explore. Look for our signs with the Finding Fires logo at some of the sites around the county and tag us in a photograph on social media at @TompkinsHistory #FindingFires.
If you are up to the challenge, join our Executive Director to amplify the impact for The History Center in Tompkins County. Anyone who participates - no matter the miles! - in the challenge through our campaign site will receive this year's T-Shirt featuring the Finding Fires logo.
We've built some suggested loops to explore, but are looking forward to seeing how you connect the stops. The tours are free through our partners at PocketSights, and you can find further route details through the saved Strava Routes.
