| Marker to honor Ithaca birthplace of Tuskegee AirmanCornell Chronicle - by Patti Witten A new historic marker will be installed this fall to commemorate Verdelle Louis Payne, who was born in Ithaca in 1919 at 212 Cascadilla Street, where the marker will be placed. Payne was a member of the Tuskegee Airmen, who were the first African American military pilots in the US Armed Forces. |
| History Center director bikes 200 miles in 24 hoursTompkins Weekly - by Jessica Wickham Ben Sandberg, director of the History Center, biked more than 200 miles and raised over $10,000 in the second annual Traverse Tompkins fundraiser for the History Center.
